Resources during COVID-19

COVID-19 Resource

Hey guys, it's time to share resources for anyone who needs assistance with finances, food, health, or business. With COVID-19 (Coronavirus) designated as a global pandemic, it is important to share any and all resources for those of us in need. Community is key.

Note that these are more applicable to residents of Tampa, Florida, in the U.S. However, some may apply broadly across the U.S. Suggestions have been screened, but are always subject to change based on need. Please share any and all suggestions in the comments section and they will be added in after being screened.

National:

  • Dial 2-1-1 for connection to financial, food, and physical/mental health resources in your area. 2-1-1 will route to your local county based off of your phone area code. If you do not reside in that area code, the team will route you accordingly.

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Phone Answering Service for health tips regarding COVID-19. Please use automated service for listening to verbal FACTS. 1-800-232-4636 You may read more about the FACTS here.

Hillsborough County:

  • Hillsborough County delays the "enforcement" of evictions until 4/20/2020 (delaying the serving of writs of possession). Watch the HCPD public announcement here. If you need financial assistance for housing, please contact 2-1-1, or other nonprofits/churches in your area that may be able to support.

  • Teco Electric Bill: Teco Electric is suspending disconnections for non-payment. Here are sites that can support your bill pay.

  • Tampa restaurants currently open. There are plenty more that have reduced services to food delivery. Again, please think of how you can support these businesses unconventionally. Many that are closing will sell their additional products. Please support small business for takeout. Uber Eats is waving delivery fees and has a no-contact delivery option. Don't forget to tip the drivers and staff.

  • Business Loan: The State of FL has activated the FL Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program. You may be eligible for interest-free loans if you are a small business impacted by COVID-19. Application dates are March 17-May 8.

For additional resources, many nonprofits, counties, and faith-based organizations may be able to provide additional support during this time. There is no shame in reaching out and asking for support.

This list is not exhaustive. Please share & add suggestions in the comments as you see fit.

*Note that this list is subject to change and is applicable primarily to Hillsborough County, Florida, U.S., but services may apply to your local region.
